Pleated Chicken/ Mushroom Loaf

Finally I did it!!! Yes, I have started a blog, a food blog. This has been in my mind for a long long time. Cooking is my passion and the secret ingredient in all my recipes are Love, love and more love !!! :)

INGREDIENTS
Filling
Mushroom/Chicken
1 onion
Pepper powder
Garam masala powder
Oregano
Salt to taste


Dough
 2 cups maida 
1/2 cup butter (cold, not melted)
1 tsp bakin powder
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup milk
1/4 tsp carom seeds
1/2 tsp sesame seeds 

  • Sieve the flour, baking powder and salt together.
  • Cut butter into small cubes and mix it with the flour till it looks like fine bread crumbs.
  • Now add milk to the above mixture and make a soft dough. Refrigerate till you make the filling...:)
  • For the filling, saute onions with salt till transparent.
  • Add mushrooms(if using chicken, cook chicken separately with pepper and salt before adding).
  • Cook for around 5 mins.
  • Add pepper, oregano and garam masala. mix well and leave it for 2 mins and remove from fire.
  • Roll the dough to a square piece. Make 3 equal length wise marking. Do not cut it. On the center portion place the filling.


  • Cut the other 2 sides diagonally to make small strips. now place the strips alternately on top of the filling.
  • Brush lightly with milk and sprinkle some carom seeds and sesame seeds on top of it. 
  • Preheat oven to 180 degree c for 10 mins.
  • Bake at 180 degree c for 40 mins, till the top is browned and bottom is crisp.

Serve Hot :)
