Puttu



Puttu - A very common breakfast in almost all houses in Kerala. It can be served with a variety of accompaniments.

Ingredients:
Rice Flour -4 cups
Grated Coconut
Salt to taste
Water

Method

  • Add salt to the rice flour and mix well.
  • Sprinkle water on the rice flour an mix well. It should just wet, do not add too much water.
  • Use a Puttukutti ( Cylindrical Steamer used to make Puttu) to make the puttu. Add grated coconut and then the wet rice flour. Add some coconut again an another layer of wet mix. Finish with yet another layer of grated coconut.
  • Steam for 2-3 mins.
  • Serve hot with Pappadam or Bananas or Kadala Curry.
