Pepper Chicken Fry

I had posted another recipe for Pepper Chicken earlier which is semi dry. Here is yet another pepper chicken recipe, this time it is a dry version.

1/2 Kg Chicken, cut into small cubes
1 big onion, chopped
1 medium tomato, chopped
3 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
4 teaspoon peppercorns
1 teaspoon chilly powder
2 teaspoon cumin
2 teaspoon Fennel
Salt to taste
Curry leaves and coriander leaves
1/2 lime

  • Saute onions in oil till golden brown. Add a little salt.
  • Add the ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell goes.
  • Add the chicken pieces and mix well.
  • Add turmeric powder and salt to taste.Mix well, close and cook until the chicken is cooked well and water oozes out.
  • Add the chopped tomatoes, red chilly powder and stir till the raw smell goes.
  • Close and cook for 5 mins in low flame.
  • Dry roast the pepper, fennel and cumin adding one after the other in the same order. Grind after it cools down.
  • Squeeze half a lime over the chicken and mix dry roast powder. Stir well so that the paste covers the chicken well.
  • Keep stirring so that the paste doesn't get burned. Cook for 2 mins.
  • Add the curry leaves and coriander leaves and mix well again and close and cook for another 2-3 mins.
  • Serve hot with rice and daal.
